The Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) sensor in your car measures the emissions from the exhaust and sends that data to the ECU and from that, it calibrates the amount of fuel to be sent into the combustion chamber.

The NOx sensor’s two main jobs are to provide good fuel economy and to prevent harmful emissions from entering the atmosphere. If the sensor fails, you might notice you’re spending more at the pumps and your car might fail the emissions test at its next MOT test.
